The BathBath is one of the most beautiful and tourist-friendly cities in the UK. With a rich history, great shopping centres, restaurants plenty of cultural activities, packing everything into a weekend can be tricky.

Here are five great ideas to make the most of your short break in Bath:

Do as the Romans Do at the Baths

What have the Romans ever done for us? You might ask. Well, for one thing, they noticed that this spot in south-west Britain had natural hot springs, which bring water to the surface at a toasty 45° C. The elaborate complex of baths the Romans built can be visited today, and is accompanied by a fascinating museum. Afterwards, you can witness Bath’s second heyday and have some tea in the elegant Georgian Pump Rooms.

Hit the Shops

For a small city (only 84000 residents), Bath has excellent shops packed into the elegant city centre. It has all the major chain stores, as well as American imports, independent boutiques and second-hand stores.

Watch the Rugby

If shopping is not your thing and you love sports, you might prefer an afternoon at the Recreation Ground, home to Bath rugby club. One of Europe’s major rugby union teams, current players include George Ford, Jonathan Joseph and Anthony Watson. The stadium is right in the heart of town, next to the River Avon.

Enjoy the Views

If you fancy a break from the bustling city centre, a ten-minute walk will bring you out of town into the quiet countryside. The Bath Skyline walk passes through quiet fields and offers stunning views of Bath’s distinctive architecture. After your excursions, why not treat yourself to a pint in one of Bath’s many quaint pubs.
